Our Story
Her and Him
Escaping the Oregon fires at Cannon Beach.
Who would have thought we would be in Oregon? (She’s wearing heels)
Where We Met
“First day of first-year MBA orientation. I walked into the auditorium and as soon as I entered she saw me and the entire world became slow-motion. Her eyes followed me as I made my way down the aisle. It was love at first sight for her. Her pursuit of me was relentless and at times, tiresome. We had a tight group of friends and I never wanted it to go beyond that. But, she was determined. One day she proposed a race at the UO practice track. Loser takes the winner to dinner. Even though I went to the greatest university in the history of universities, she was a D-1 scholarship track athlete. She knew what she was asking. We ran the race, she won by a hair. Unbeknownst to her, I eased up. I knew how bad she wanted to go out so I decided why not, be a nice guy. I took her out. Then took her out again. Then again. Then again…”

“False. But, he did take me out again, and again, and again…”

How He Did It
“Do you trust me?” - E
”Yes, I trust you.” - M
Over the last year we would have discussions about our future. I always asked her if she would trust me and she always said yes.
April 15, 2021. Four years to the day when I first asked Marisa out. It was a normal Thursday evening. After wrapping up dinner I wished her a happy anniversary. She had no idea what I was talking about. I told her it was the anniversary of when I first asked her out. I pulled out my cellphone and started to read the text message exchange we had from that night four years ago. I asked her what her thoughts were of us going out and she typed, "If you stay authentic you'll be good."
After I finished reading the the text messages I asked her if I've stayed authentic and she said, “Yes, you've been good.” I then asked, "Do you trust me?” She replied, "Yes.” I continued, "Will you trust me forever?" She said, "Huh?" I got up from our dinner table, walked around, got down on one knee, took out the ring and asked, "Marisa Biggins, will you trust me forever? Will you marry me?" She started crying and came down from her chair and we hugged and kissed. She said, “Yes.” We hugged and cried again. Then she asked, "Where’s the ring?” I slid the ring on her finger to seal the deal.
”Did you ask my dad?" she asked.
"Yes, I asked him on Sunday. We should call your folks. They'll be up."
She wasn’t going to say “No”.
